Why we install CertainTeed
The reasoning behind the shingle on most of our roofs, and what our ShingleMaster credential does and does not cover.
Most of the roofs we install now are CertainTeed Landmark. That is a recent shift, and homeowners ask why, so here is the actual reasoning rather than a brochure.
What Landmark is
Landmark is a laminated architectural shingle. Two layers are bonded together, which is where the depth and the shadow line come from, and it is why an architectural roof reads as texture from the street while a three-tab roof reads as flat stripes.
The three lines we install
- Landmark, the standard architectural shingle and the one most of our roofs use.
- Landmark PRO, the heavier version of the same shingle.
- Patriot, the value option, which still gives you a dimensional look at a lower cost per square.
Why we moved most installs to it
- The color range. Landmark gives us ten colors we can actually preview on this site, including blends like Heather Blend and Resawn Shake that are hard to match elsewhere.
- Supply. Our suppliers carry it locally, which matters more than it sounds: a roof that has to wait three weeks for a color is a roof that is open to the weather or delayed entirely.
- The credential. We are a CertainTeed ShingleMaster, which is what allows us to offer CertainTeed's extended warranty coverage on a qualifying system.

Open the color visualizerWhat ShingleMaster means
ShingleMaster is a credential CertainTeed issues after reviewing a contractor's licensing, insurance and workmanship standards. It is the qualification that lets us register CertainTeed's extended warranties on a qualifying system, and CertainTeed publishes the result on its own website, so you can check it without taking our word for it.
We say that plainly because the distinction is checkable, and a roofer who blurs it on the small things is telling you something about the big ones.
Where CertainTeed is not the answer
If your neighborhood has a covenant naming a specific product, or your insurance carrier has specified a line, or you are matching an existing roof section that is already GAF or Owens Corning, we install those instead. A color match on a partial roof beats a brand preference every time, and we will say so on the estimate.
